DC LANTERNS
CHINA BALL ON A STICK
DC LANTERNS
Rugged. DC Powered. Omnidirectional. Hybrid Color. Dimmable.
DC LANTERNS takes the concept of the china ball on a painters pole to the next level. Yes, you can raid the aisles of your local hardware store and Pier 1 imports and build your own, but this light is ready to go - no arts and crafts necessary. Designed by a DP who wanted a soft battery powered source the DC LANTERN is unique in its class. The entire unit is extremely lightweight and has been built around a 3-stage carbon fiber boom pole. It can be held for long stretches overhead if necessary or mounted to a C-stand using a classic Boom Mate. The pole extends from 3 feet to 8 feet with the power cable fed inside. The light can be evenly balanced using a small camera battery like the Anton Bauer Dionic HC. The light will run for 3-4 hours using a single battery.
Inside, the light is powered using Litegear Dimmer and Literibbon technology which is fully dimmable and has a color temperature range from 3200-5600 Kelvin. The light head has a speedring which accepts a 20" Chimera Lantern and / or an interior acyrlic globe so that the light can either be single or double diffused.
The light is optimized for rugged wilderness documentaries and survival shows where DC powered lighting is the only option yet 'invisible' lighting is needed. The light has already traveled on shows for BRAVO, NBC, NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC, AND HISTORY CHANNEL to remote villages in Africa to frigid mountain peaks in New Zealand. As well, the light is at home on film and TV sets such as the past season of Chicago Fire for NBC.
Additionally, Litegear's new 15amp dimmers provide twice the output and have cool lighting FX built in such as fire FX, gun & paparazzi flashbulb fx.
